PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Background

AUTOARCH was engaged by the City of Missouri City to develop a placemaking and visioning plan for its City Hall Civic Complex. The goal was to reimagine the site as a dynamic outdoor destination—Missouri City’s “front porch”—where civic life, culture, and community converge. The plan aimed to define a clear identity for the complex and establish it as a hub for residents, local institutions, and public events.

Approach

Our team led a comprehensive study focused on creating a strong sense of place, identity, and connectivity. The vision incorporated a “green spine” along an existing pipeline easement, linking key features of the site including a Veterans Memorial, amphitheater, food truck lane, and community plaza. Emphasis was placed on unifying the site through thoughtful gateways, arrival experiences, and public art, while also leveraging existing infrastructure such as detention ponds and water towers to enhance site character and visibility.

Result

The final vision positioned the Civic Complex as Missouri City’s premier outdoor destination—an active, flexible public realm designed to host events, encourage gathering, and support long-term civic pride. With over a dozen integrated program elements and a clearly defined design framework, the plan set the stage for future investment and phased implementation.
