As part of a districtwide effort to update its 10-year Strategic Facility Assessment and Long-Range Capital Facilities Improvement Plan, Houston ISD engaged a team of consultants, including AUTOARCH, to assess the condition and future needs of its extensive building portfolio. The goal was to provide data-driven insights to guide responsible capital planning and facility investment across the district.
AUTOARCH contributed architectural and site assessment services for 242 K–12 campuses and 20 non-educational facilities. Our team performed detailed evaluations of building systems and instructional environments, ensuring alignment with current design and standards. In addition to on-site assessment, AUTOARCH led the creation of site plans and digital documentation, supporting backend data integration for use in the web-based FCA platform. Quality control reviews ensured consistency and accuracy across the massive dataset. Planning budgets considered lifecycle costs, inflation, and escalation to help the district prioritize improvements and maximize long-term value.
The assessment equipped HISD with a robust, data-rich foundation for future facility planning, enabling more strategic and equitable capital investment decisions. AUTOARCH’s contributions helped ensure the district could plan effectively, optimize resources, and address evolving educational needs across its nearly 300 facilities.
