PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Background

Madden Elementary School, nestled in the heart of Aliana – a master planned community in Fort Bend, marked a significant milestone as Fort Bend ISD’s first LEED Project. Built upon the legacy of AUTOARCH’s past school designs, such as FBISD’s Armstrong Elementary (designed by AUTOARCH), Madden Elementary epitomizes a fusion of past lessons and forward-thinking innovation.

Approach

Prioritizing 21st-century learning environments, the design showcases a radiant, daylit two-story Rotunda and Library, complemented by a vibrant Dining Hall and a versatile Multi-Purpose Room. Central to the design is a corridor, a central spine for the school, seamlessly connecting the classroom pods with core activity hubs. Understanding the school’s location within the neighborhood, special emphasis was given to circulation in order to not affect adjacent properties with car queuing. The strategic layout of the parking area and its periphery not only ensures ample onsite queuing but also allows the school’s administration with flexibility to handle parking flow. In a remarkable feat, AUTOARCH worked with the contractor to streamline the construction process, completing this two-story LEED Certified facility in a short 10 months.

Result

Madden Elementary stands as a testament to modern-day educational architecture — a LEED Certified institution that optimally melds form, function, and sustainability, fulfilling the aspirations of the community it serves.
